Anna Nikogosova's story
I was studying tourism and hospitality management in university and I first worked in a hotel in 2006, which is when I realised hospitality was where my passion lay. I started my career in housekeeping working in rooms and public areas, then I moved to F&B as a waiter. After that I was a spa attendant and then for five years as a receptionist.
I joined Accor in 2016 as a reservation agent and afterwards I was promoted to Revenue and Reservation Manager, where I stayed for almost nine years. In July, I moved to the new ibis styles in the heart of the old town in Tbilisi as Rooms Division Manager. Over the years, I have participated in the opening of three hotels, this is the third; I started in the Mercure Tbilisi Old Town, then the ibis Styles Tbilisi Centre and Swissôtel Tbilisi, which opened in February, and now ibis Styles Old Tbilisi is opening.
Being part of Accor means being part of a global community, where you feel you are a Heartist® , and I love that. Accor invests in employees through training, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to grow and advance; the company not only prioritises an exceptional guest experience but also cares about the wellbeing of employees, which is very important.
The hospitality industry offers endless opportunities for career growth, creativity, the chance to work with people of diverse cultures and to work closely with colleagues; it’s really amazing.
To be a Heartist® is when you can WOW guests and colleagues – it’s as much about your teams as it is about the guests, these emotions cannot describe by words.
My proudest moment is being progressed to Revenue Manager because I started the revenue management culture in the hotel; the revenue management is the art and exciting part in hospitality. Another highlight is that I’ve consistently strived to grow and improve, which eventually led me to my current position as Rooms Division Manager; my skills in leadership, customer service, team management, have all been integral to my success.
My advice to new starters is to stay curious, be adaptable and always prioritise guest experience because strong relationships with colleagues and guests can change your career. Do not be afraid of the challenges, don’t give up, and enjoy life in hospitality!
