David Almeida
David Almeida's story
My parents worked in hospitality and I worked in the same hotel in the school holidays. I saw how much they enjoyed what they were doing and that’s why I wanted to join the industry. I studied tourism from the age of 14 and then continued in college, where I had two internships. The first was in a 4-star hotel as an F&B controller.
Now, I am an F&B supervisor. I organise my team and their shifts, I check standards of cleaning and uniforms, oversee the daily service and look after guests. I have worked for Accor for two years in May.
I love working in hospitality because every day brings a new challenge; there is a lot to do and I never get bored. My proudest moment is hearing customers say they are returning because of the good service they received and because of the wonderful people.
Being a Heartist® means being myself, helping others to be better and to serve the way I would like to be served. Because of that, my advice to someone new to the industry is to be yourself, don’t be superficial; it’s brief but good advice.
